It started with a stray on the fourth floor

In Bengaluru, my wife was afraid of cats. Then one day a stray in our building meowed at her, and she started giving her milk. (We know better now: most adult cats can't digest milk properly. It was the first of many things we had to learn.)

We lived on the fourth floor, and soon the stray started coming up to our flat. Before long she was living with us. She gave birth twice in our home.

When we had to leave Bengaluru, we could not take her with us: she was a stray.

Then came Kiki

After Bengaluru, Kiki came home with us. She is a white Persian, she is four now, and we have watched her grow up.

We cooked for her at first: boiled chicken, carrots. She ate it when she was very young, and later moved on to packaged food. We tried every kind of litter we could find, and none of it was good enough.
